Mercedes-Benz has revealed a facelifted version of its C-Class compact executive car.
A major focus is on improved technology, including the option for a fully digital 12.3in instrument display, as previously seen on the S-Class luxury saloon. Other new S-Class-derived technology includes Intelligent Drive assistance, allowing the car to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations.
Both these features were also recently announced by Mercedes for the new A-Class hatchback.
The revised C-Class, available as a saloon or estate, comes as standard with an Audio 20 multimedia system featuring two USB ports, an SD card reader, Bluetooth connection and media interface.
The optional Comand Online system offers 3D hard-disc navigation with topographic map display, photo-realistic 3D buildings and 3D map rotations. This also displays information including real-time traffic reports, weather updates, details of filling stations (including current fuel prices), and free parking spaces.
There wlll also be steering wheel-mounted, touch-sensitive controls, allowing the driver to control the functions of the instrument cluster and the infotainment system without having to take their hands off the wheel.
The revised C-Class will also be available with an optional Energising comfort control system. Mercedes says this aims to make the driving experience as comfortable as possible through systematic use of the climate control system, including fragrancing, along with heating, ventilation and massaging functions on the seats, and lighting and music.
Styling tweaks for the facelifted C-Class include revisions to the front and rear bumpers, along with the headlights and tail lights. As an option, those headlights can have Multibeam LED functionality featuring 84 individually controllable LEDs, allowing precise, electronically-controlled adjustment to suit traffic conditions.
Engine details are yet to be revealed. Full UK specs and prices will be announced in March, with deliveries starting in August.
