New licence checking hardware launched

Date: 09 May 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

New technology for checking driving licences has been introduced by Licence Check.

Davis Check Station is able to scan a driving licence, obtain driver permission and carry out a DVLA check in seconds.

Its introduction follows the launch by Licence Check last year of CDR, which quickens the process of obtaining driving licence information by scanning the licence and capturing the data in a driver record.

After the arrival of CDR, Licence Check recognised that it could be further developed to complete the entire driving licence check in a single process by including a driver permission feature.

A digital signature pad was developed allowing drivers to grant permission for checks, which remains in place for three years.

A touchscreen tablet has also been introduced that connects directly to the Davis platform, enabling the driver to initiate and give permission for the driving licence check and see the results on screen.

Licence Check says Davis Check Station is ideal for organisations that need to on-board drivers in bulk, and has been developed specifically for the car rental market, car leasing market or anyone that on-boards a high volume of drivers face to face.

MD Richard Brown said: "Improving efficiency of driver compliance is at the heart of everything that we do and as a tech company, Licence Check is best placed to deliver seamless driver compliance checks.

"We're absolutely delighted with the response that Davis Check Station has received so far, and seeing so many organisations positively embrace technology advancements motivates my team to continually innovate and push the boundaries within driver and vehicle compliance."
