Peugeot reveals details of 3008 and 508 plug-in hybrids

Peugeot has announced the launch of plug-in hybrid engine options for its 3008 SUV and 508 large family car.
The 3008 will get a four-wheel drive set up, pairing a 200hp petrol engine with two 110hp electric motors, with a maximum combined power output of 300hp.
The 508 - both in saloon and SW estate bodystyles - will get a 180hp petrol engine with a 110hp motor, with a combined maximum power output of 225hp.
Peugeot predicts CO2 emissions of less than 49g/km for the 508, and a pure electric range for the 5008 of 30 miles under WLTP testing, thanks to its 13.2kWh battery.
It says the battery will be rechargeable in less than two hours when using a 6.6kW 32A wall box.
Other technology set to feature on the cars includes i-Booster, a braking system that conserves power as the car brakes or decelerates, and eSave, which allows drivers to reserve electric energy for planned routes ahead.
There will also be a hybrid-specific version of Peugeot's i-Cockpit system, displaying indicators of engine efficiency - such as electricity consumption and fuel consumption - and key driving information, like driving mode, electric gauge level and available electrical distance.
The plug-in hybrids are set to go on sale in autumn 2019.
