Prices and specs announced for facelifted Kia Sportage

Date: 24 July 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Kia has announced prices and full specifications for its revised Sportage SUV.

Styling tweaks for the new model include redesigned front and rear bumpers and an altered grille, while inside there's a new steering wheel and revised driver instrument cluster.

The revamped Sportage sees the debut of Kia's new mild hybrid diesel powertrain, which pairs a 2.0-litre engine with a 48V battery.

This will produce 182hp, and according to Kia, deliver improved CO2 emissions compared with a conventional engine, although emissions and economy figures for it are yet to be confirmed.

Other engine options are 1.6-litre diesels with 114hp or 134hp, and 1.6-litre petrols with 130hp or 174hp.

Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, official combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions are 57.6mpg and 130g/km for the 114hp diesel, 57.6mpg and 129g/km for the 134hp diesel, 39.8mpg and 162g/km for the 130hp petrol, and 36.7mpg and 179g/km for the 174hp petrol.

A seven-speed automatic gearbox is available with the most powerful petrol and diesel engines, as is four-wheel drive, while mild hybrid cars come with an eight-speed auto and four-wheel drive as standard.

Available trim levels are 1, 2, 4, GT-Line and GT-Line S, along with an Edition 25launch special.

Standard equipment on all models includes cruise control, a reversing camera system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

2 trim adds a 7in touchscreen sat-nav system, automatic wipers, dual-zone automatic air conditioning and lane keep assist; while 4 trim upgrades the touchscreen to 8in and adds other equipment including a panoramic sunroof, 360 degree around view monitor and a blind-spot collision warning system.

GT-Line sits between 2 and 4 trims but with added sports styling features, while GT-Line S adds further equipment from 4 trim.

Edition 25 is based on 4 trim but with 17-inch alloy wheels, black cloth and leather upholstery and premium paint.

Prices for the revised Sportage range start at £20,305 for a 130hp petrol manual in 1 trim, and rise to £31,645 for a 174hp petrol auto GT-Line S car with four-wheel drive.

Prices for Sportages with the mild hybrid system are yet to be revealed.
