Skoda Kodiaq vRS to get biturbo diesel engine

Date: 23 August 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Skoda has released teaser images and the first mechanical details of its upcoming Kodiaq vRS.

The performance version of the firm's largest SUV will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

Skoda says the new model, which will have four-wheel drive, will come with a 2.0-litre, biturbo diesel engine, developing 239hp and 500Nm of torque.

It says this will be the most powerful diesel engine fitted to any Skoda in the firm's history.

The Kodiaq will be the first Skoda SUV to carry the company's vRS sports branding, which has been in use since 2000, when it first appeared on the Octavia vRS.

Skoda says the letter v is a reference to its motorsport victories, and the initials RS stand for Rally Sport, first used on its rally cars in the 1970s.

The debut of the Kodiaq vRS will also see the unveiling of a new vRS logo, featuring red detailing.

Several of these logos will feature on the Kodiaq vRS, most visibly on the radiator grille.
