A special edition version of the Mazda 3 hatchback has gone on sale.

The Sport Black, which is limited to 700 examples in the UK, is based on the regular SE-L Nav model, but gets sporty styling features including 18in dark alloy wheels, and a Jet Black roof spoiler and door mirrors.

Extra technology includes a reversing camera, LED headlights with adaptive front lighting system, and smart keyless entry.

Interior features include a heated steering wheel, Bose surround sound system, cruise control and dual-zone climate control.

The Sport Black also gets integrated sat-nav via a 7in touchscreen.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre 120hp petrol engine, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, capable of accelerating the car from 0-62mph in 8.9 seconds.

Official combined fuel consumption is 55.4mpg, and CO2 emissions are 119g/km.

Mazda's UK managing director Jeremy Thomson said: "The Mazda 3 is a core model in our line-up, one that continues to be popular with both private and fleet customers.

"The Sport Black special edition delivers even more value to our customers and I'm sure the its winning combination of extra equipment, distinctive styling enhancements and competitive price will make this a very popular addition to the already extensive Mazda 3 range."
