Upgraded diesel engine for Nissan Qashqai

Date: 17 September 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Nissan has launched a cleaner 1.5-litre diesel engine option for its Qashqai SUV range.

The firm says the addition of Selective Catalytic Reduction technology, using AdBlue to reduce NOx emissions, allows the engine to meet the latest Euro 6d-Temp emissions standards.

Compared with the old 1.5-litre diesel, there has also been an increase in power - up from 110hp to 115hp - while torque remains the same at 260Nm.

An overboost function has also been added, delivering an additional 5hp and 25Nm of torque for up to 15 seconds.

Official combined fuel economy and CO2 emission figures are 74.3mpg and 100g/km when the Qashqai is specced with 16in or 17in wheels, or 67.2mpg and 110g/km with 18in or 19in.

Nissan says that compared with the previous engine, more than 90% of the engine's components have been modified, including the oil cooler module, oil filter, dual mass flywheel, vacuum pump and high-pressure fuel pump.
