Vauxhall announces new Corsa GSI

Date: 26 March 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Vauxhall has revealed a new sports version of its Corsa supermini.

The Corsa GSI will be the second model in the current Vauxhall line-up to carry the revived GSI badge - previously used on fast Vauxhalls until the mid-2000s - following the Insignia large family car.

The Corsa GSI gets styling tweaks to distinguish it from regular models, including large air intakes, a honeycomb grille, deep sill extensions, carbon-trimmed features, a deep rear spoiler and a chrome tailpipe.

Interior additions include leather Recaro seats, a leather sports steering wheel and aluminium pedals.

The GSI's suspension and brakes come from the VXR hot hatchback and feature firmer springs and competition-tuned dampers.

Vauxhall is yet to announce engine options for the Corsa GSI; however, it has promised that drivers will get 'all the efficiency' of the regular Corsa.

The already-launched Insignia GSI has the most powerful engines already available with regular trim levels, rather than a higher performance motor.

The Corsa GSI also comes with 18in alloy wheels and Vauxhall's IntelliLink infotainment system, offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Vauxhall says more information about the Corsa GSI will be revealed when order books open later this year.
