Vauxhall Corsa GSi engine revealed

Date: 24 May 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Vauxhall has confirmed the powertrain that will be fitted to its new Corsa GSi hot hatch.

The car will come with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 150hp and 220nm of torque, delivering drive through a six-speed manual gearbox.

Vauxhall says this will accelerate the car from 0 to 62mph in 8.9 seconds, with a top speed of 128mph.

Official combined fuel economy will be 47.1mpg, with CO2 emissions of 139g/km.

Vauxhall says the GSi will have the same chassis set-up as the previous, faster, Corsa VXR, together with optional lightweight alloy wheels.

Styling tweaks including large front air intakes, a sculptured bonnet, a prominent rear spoiler, a chrome tailpipe and red-painted front brake calipers set the GSi apart from other Corsa models.

Inside, there is a leather sports steering wheel and aluminium pedals as standard, with leather Recaro seats available as an option.

Vauxhall says the Corsa GSi will go on sale in September. Prices are yet to be revealed.
