Vauxhall Grandland X gets new diesel engine option

Date: 04 May 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Vauxhall has added a new diesel engine option to its Grandland X SUV range.

The 1.5-litre engine produces 130hp, and when paired with a six-speed manual gearbox achieves official combined fuel economy of 68.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 108g/km.

The new engine is also available with the same eight-speed automatic gearbox that was recently introduced with the range-topping 2.0-litre 177hp diesel.

The new engine replaces the previously available 1.6-litre 120hp diesel engine in the Grandland X range.

Vauxhall says that compared with the outgoing unit, the new engine, which is Euro 6.2-compliant, has improved driving response thanks to a new four-valve cylinder head.

Prices for the Grandland X with the new engine start from £24,190 for cars in SE trim.

Order books are open now, with the first deliveries for cars with the new engine expected in July.

Vauxhall's Grandland X brand manager Ian Mitchell said: "The high-tech design of the new 1.5-litre diesel in the Vauxhall Grandland X enables customers to combine the fun of a compact SUV with the powerful performance and low emissions of an advanced diesel engine."
