Volvo V60 R-Design launched

Date: 25 September 2018   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volvo has added a new trim option to its V60 estate car range.

R-Design cars are designed to offer a sportier driving experience than other V60s, featuring sports-tuned suspension with stiffer spring rates, faster-responding dampers, thicker anti-roll bars and a 12mm lower ride height.

There are sports-inspired cosmetic changes as well: with a high gloss black finish for the mesh front grille, door mirror housings, window frames, integrated roof rails and twin tailpipe surrounds, while 18in diamond-cut alloy wheels are also fitted.

Inside, there's a black headlining, sports pedals, sports leather steering wheel and gear lever, and R-Design-etched tread plates. Meanwhile sports front seats are fitted with part-leather upholstery, cushion extensions and multi-directional lumbar support.

The interior also features metal mesh interior inlays, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a central rear armrest with built-in storage and cupholders.

Standard equipment includes: a 9in touchscreen with sat-nav, Sensus connectivity, 10-speaker audio system, two-zone climate control, 12.3in driver information display, automatic headlights with active high beam, LED front fog lights, front and rear parking sensors and a powered tailgate.

Volvo's City Safety suite of driver assistance systems is also included.

On top of R-Design spec, an R-Design Pro model is also available. This adds 19in alloy wheels, dark-tinted rear windows, active bending headlights with adaptive shadow technology, puddle lights, keyless entry and start, a hands-free tailgate, multi-colour interior lighting, a head-up display, heated front seats, a powered driver's seat and memory door mirrors.

Engine options for both R-Design and R-Design Pro are 150hp and 190hp diesels and a 250hp petrol.

The diesels are available with six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, while the petrol is auto-only.

Volvo says it expects R-Design to become the best-selling V60 trim. Orders are being taken now, with the first customer deliveries expected at the end of the year.

R-Design prices start at £35,410 for a 150hp diesel manual; while R-Design Pro begins at £37,660 for the same spec.
