Skoda Kodiaqs join fire service fleet

Date: 25 April 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Skoda has agreed a deal to supply Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service with its Kodiaq SUV.

So far 12 Kodiaqs have been delivered, with a further five on order.

The cars, which have been specced with a 2.0-litre, 150hp diesel engine, automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, are being assigned to on-call fire officers for use when responding to incidents.

They have been modified to meet the service's requirements, with the fitting of covert blue lights, blue light-spec brake enhancements, and a fixed load guard in the boot to secure equipment.

The service is said to have been impressed by the Kodiaq's all-terrain capability, and by the amount of space it offers for passengers and equipment.

Fleet manager Andrew Welton said: "Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service covers a largely rural area and our flexi duty officers need more flexibility with an off-road fleet that is practical for both people and equipment.

"The Kodiaq's performance, combined with Skoda's ability to provide cars fully converted, met all of our criteria."
