Upgraded Hyundai Ioniq announced

Hyundai has revealed a range of updates for its Ioniq, including an improved electric version and upgraded connectivity.
The Ioniq is available with a choice of three powertrains: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and full electric.
The last of these has now been given an upgraded battery, from 28kWh to 38.3kWh - meaning a 36% increase in storage capacity and a claimed range of more than 182 miles on a WLTP cycle.
The on-board charger has also been upgraded from 6.6kW to 7.2kW. This means the battery can reach an 80% charge in 54 minutes with a 100kW fast-charging station.
The Ioniq range has also been given the Hyundai Blue Link connected vehicle system, technology that allows drivers of the electric version to remotely start and stop the vehicle. With it drivers of all versions can remotely lock and unlock the car, and control the air conditioning.
Plug-in and electric drivers can also remotely check the status of the battery.
Other additions to the range include the eCall emergency assistance service, and five years of live services when sat-nav is specced.
An upgraded 10.25in infotainment screen is also available, in which two phones can be connected via Bluetooth simultaneously.
Other changes to the Ioniq's interior include new touch-type control buttons for the heating and air conditioning, and new mood and ambient lighting. The car's exterior has been given a redesigned grille and front bumper as well.
LED headlights and taillights are also now available.
