New Mercedes-Benz GLB specs and prices announced

Date: 14 August 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Mercedes-Benz has revealed specs and prices for its new GLB SUV.

Engine options are a 163hp petrol, which comes with front-wheel drive, a 150hp diesel available with front or four-wheel drive, and a 190hp diesel with four-wheel drive only.

The petrol engine comes with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, and the diesel engines with an eight-speed auto.

Official combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are 47.1mpg and 138g/km for the petrol; 56.5mpg and 133g/km for the 150hp diesel with front-wheel drive; 51.4mpg and 145g/km for the 150hp diesel with four-wheel drive; and 51.4mpg and 146g/km for the 190hp diesel.

All three engines are RDE2-compliant, meaning the diesels avoid the 4% BIK surcharge imposed by the government on diesel company cars.

Four equipment grades are available: Sport, AMG Line, AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Premium Plus.

Standard equipment with Sport includes: 18in alloy wheels, driving mode selection, LED headlights and tail lights, a 180-degree reversing camera, two-zone climate control, heated front seats, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, attention assist, keyless go and a 7in digital cockpit display and 7in touchscreen display with the MBUX infotainment system.

AMG Line grade adds features including 19in alloys, AMG bodystyling and privacy glass.

Stepping up to Premium grade adds equipment including 64-colour ambient lighting, a Mirror pack, a Parking pack, augmented reality sat-nav, upgraded 10.25in cockpit and infotainment screens, a 10-speaker sound system, smartphone integration and wireless charging.

Extra features with range-topping AMG Line Premium Plus grade include multibeam LED headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, a panoramic sunroof, a Driving Assistance pack and traffic sign assist.

Seven seats are standard across the range, although a five-seater version is optional with AMG Line Premium Plus grade.

Range prices start at £34,200 for a petrol Sport, and rise as high as £45,950 for a 190hp AMG Line Premium Plus.

The GLB is on sale now, with the first deliveries expected in December.
