Seat Tarraco gets PHEV option and new FR equipment grade

Date: 28 August 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Seat has announced a new plug-in hybrid powertrain and a new equipment grade for its Tarraco SUV range.

The Tarraco PHEV pairs a 1.4-litre, 150hp petrol engine with a 116hp electric motor, with a total system output of 245hp.

Seat claims a 13kWh battery pack will allow a pure electric range of more than 31 miles, and predicts a CO2 emissions figure of less than 50g/km on the WLTP test cycle.

The newly-announced equipment grade is the sporty FR spec, which includes exterior design features such as wider wheel arches, a rear spoiler and 19in alloy wheels (20in alloys are optional).

There's also a tweaked front grille and revised rear lights.

Inside, there's a new sat-nav system with a 9.2in screen, electric sports bucket seats with driver's side memory function, aluminium pedals and a sports steering wheel.

Newly available options include trailer assist and a parking heater function, with the latter allowing the driver to warm the engine and vehicle faster in cold weather.

Both the PHEV powertrain and the FR grade will make their debut at the Frankfurt motor show next month, and go on sale next year.
