Bristol Airport adopts EV charging with eye on zero emission fleet plan

A 10-bay electric vehicle (EV) charging zone has been installed by Pod Point at Bristol Airport.
The chargers are in the airport's new multi-storey car park, and are supported by a smart reporting system that allows the airport to monitor a number of metrics, including carbon dioxide savings, the amount of energy delivered and the number of charge cycles a day.
As part of a plan to be carbon neutral by 2025, the airport is also set to convert convert its own fleet to zero emissions, and future charger installations are set to play an important role in this.
Pod Point's scalable system is said to enable efficient expansion in line with demand.
Bristol Airport surface access strategy manager Paul Baker said: "We are delighted phase one of the project has been so successful and improves the facilities available to passengers.
"This is our first step to Bristol Airport being EV-driver friendly and we are already looking at other locations around the airport to extend the number of Pod Points on site."
In order to use the new chargers, which have been added to Pod Point's public network, passengers will need to have downloaded the Pod Point app and set up an account.
