Hyundai has confirmed full details of the new hybrid version of its Kona SUV, which will go on sale towards the end of September.

The new Kona Hybrid features the latest powertrain to join the range, alongside conventional petrol engines and the battery-only Kona Electric.

The Kona Hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 32kW electric motor to deliver a combined maximum output of 141hp via a six-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

It offers an official combined fuel economy figure of 56.5mpg, and CO2 emissions of 90g/km.

Three equipment grades will be available: SE, Premium, and Premium SE. They will be priced at £22,495, £24,295 and £27,195 respectively.

Standard equipment with SE grade will include: climate control, an electric parking brake, a 7in touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, lane keep assist and driver attention alert.

Stepping up to Premium grade adds features including a Krell sound system, keyless entry and go, privacy glasses, wireless phone charging, automatic wipers, front fog lights, and an upgraded 10.25in touch screen with sat-nav.

Extra features with the range-topping Premium SE grade include: LED headlights with high-beam assist, autonomous emergency braking (available with option packs at the lower grades), leather seat trim, heated and ventilated electric front seats, a head-up display, and blind spot detection with rear cross traffic alert (available as an option with the Premium grade).
