Facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLC revealed

Date: 01 March 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Mercedes-Benz has announced an updated version of its GLC SUV.

Perhaps the most significant change is under the bonnet, where there is a range of three completely new engines: a 258hp petrol - which comes with a 10kW mild-hybrid system - and diesels that put out 194hp and 245hp.

Provisional fuel economy figures are up to 39.8mpg for the petrol, and up to 54.3mpg for the 194hp diesel and 48.7mph for the 245hp diesel. Corresponding provisional CO2 emissions figures are from 161g/km, from 137g/km, and from 151g/km.

Mercedes says further engine options are set to follow later.

Another significant change for the updated GLC is the introduction of the Mercedes MBUX infotainment system. It runs on a pair of screens, and includes augmented reality navigation and 'Hey Mercedes' voice control.

The model's safety systems have also been updated, with the introduction of active distance assist and active steer assist.

Exterior styling tweaks include extended chrome elements, new-look headlights, a revised grille and a redesigned rear bumper.

Interior changes include a new multifunction steering wheel, available in two versions, and revised centre console trim.

The revised GLC is set to hit the market in mid-2019. Full UK launch details are yet to be confirmed.
