New Peugeot 208 revealed with electric powertrain option

Peugeot has unveiled its new 208 small car.
The new model will be available with petrol or diesel power, or as an electric vehicle (EV) badged e-208.
The firm says this will be the first in a series of fully electric models, as it prepares to electrify its entire range by 2023.
The e-208 will come with a 100kW motor and 50kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 211 miles on the WLTP cycle.
A full battery charge will be possible in around 20 hours from a three-pin plug and around eight hours from a dedicated home charging point, while an 80% charge is achievable in 30 minutes from a 100kW rapid charger.
Peugeot will also be launching a range of new EV services to coincide with the model, including home and office charging solutions and a public charging offering.
Other powertrain options with the new 208 are 1.2-litre petrol engines with 75hp, 100hp or 140hp, and a 1.5-litre diesel with 100hp.
A five-speed manual, six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic gearbox are available depending on which engine is selected.
A range of driving assistance systems will be available. These include: adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane positioning assist, lane keeping assist, park assist, autonomous emergency braking (functional at up to 85mph), driver attention alert, auto-dipping headlights, traffic sign recognition, and active blind spot monitoring.
On-board technology will include a 7in or 10in touchscreen and a 3D digital instrument panel.
The new 208 will make its full debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
An online reservation service will then open at the end of March, with full orders opening late this summer.
