Revised Hyundai Ioniq unveiled

Date: 17 January 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Hyundai has announced a facelifted version of its Ioniq Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid.

Exterior design tweaks include a new mesh grille and new front and rear bumper designs, along with new-look optional LED head and tail lights, while the interior features a redesigned control panel for the heating and climate control.

Three new exterior paint colours have been made available - Fluidic Metal, Electric Shadow and Liquid Sand - making a total of eight.

A Smartsense technology package is now standard, including autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and driver attention alert.

There's also a new Green Zone drive mode that automatically switches the vehicle's driving module in designated areas to run on electric power rather than the internal combustion engine.

Other modes include Utility mode, which allows onboard functions to be used when the vehicle is switched off, and Eco+ mode for extending remaining energy during unforeseeable emergency situations.

One-pedal driving capability is now included with smart regenerative braking, which can be adjusted using paddle shifts.

The models also feature a Bluelink telematics service, and an optional 10.25in sat-nav system that features voice recognition technology, while Apple Carplay, Android Auto  and Hyundai Live Service are included as standard.

Prices, on-sale dates and economy and emissions figures are yet to be confirmed.

Hyundai says that following the launch of the revised Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid models, a revamped Ioniq Electric will follow soon afterwards.
