Kia Optima Sportswagon plug-in hybrid updated

Date: 04 January 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Kia has announced details of a facelifted version of its Optima Sportswagon plug-in hybrid.

The revised electrified model follows a facelift of the main Optima range carried out last year.

It pairs a 2.0-litre, 154hp petrol engine with a 67hp electric motor, and comes with an 11.26kWh battery pack.

This is enough for a range of up to 33 miles in all-electric mode, while official combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are 188.3mpg and 33g/km respectively.

Styling changes with the facelift include a new look lower front bumper and revised alloy wheels.

There are now two equipment grades available - PHEV and PHEV Plus.

Standard equipment with the former includes LED daytime running lights and headlights, 8in touchscreen sat-nav, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, an eight speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, cruise control and a 4.3in TFT information display.

Stepping up to PHEV Plus spec adds equipment including park assist, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, high beam assist, wireless phone charging, a 360 degree around view monitor, blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.

Prices are £34,995 for a PHEV model, and £38,995 for PHEV Plus.
