Acfo highlights WLTP as key topic as it kicks off 2019

A review into the impact of WLTP on company car tax and VED is among the key 2019 topics highlighted by fleet operator organisation Acfo.
In its first Digital Brief webinar of the year, chairman John Pryor highlighted the main issues facing fleets.
The government is consulting on whether tax should be adjusted due to WLTP, and Acfo is encouraging its members to respond and make the case for "a level playing field on the mobility of employees".
Other issues highlighted by Pryor include the tightening of emissions regulations, Brexit, the London Ultra-Low Emission Zone and other cities' Clean Air Zones, and the role of plug-in vehicles.
Pryor said: "Fleet operators were treading water in 2018 awaiting decisions on numerous issues. However, during the first half of 2019 Acfo anticipates that clarity will emerge on a number of key issues so it is essential that decision-makers adopt a pro-active forewarned is forearmed approach.
"Consequently, 2019 promises to be a year of change for fleet chiefs and Acfo will, as ever, continue to support members in raising awareness of the issues and delivering context and views on available options and the impact they will have on company car and van operations."
Acfo also announced changes to its own operations, including the launch of a new-look website, designed to be easier for members to use.
It will also hold a series of webinars on hot topics, and has confirmed its annual spring seminar will take place on 27 March, on the subject of 'What to expect and plan for in 2019'.
Acfo has also announced that company secretary Philip Somarakis has resigned due to work commitments. He has been replaced by Julie Summerell, who will combine that with her other role as Acfo's digital chairman.
