New engines, transmission and equipment grade for Nissan Micra

Nissan has made two new petrol engines, a new automatic gearbox and a new equipment grade available with its Micra small car.
The two new power plants both have a 1.0-litre capacity. One produces 100hp, replacing a previously available 0.9-litre 90hp unit, and the other is a new range-topper with 117hp.
Micras with the more powerful engine also get performance-focused upgrades including a lower ride height, revised suspension tuning, sharper steering, a chrome exhaust finisher and 17in alloy wheels.
Official combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions are 62.8mpg and between 103g/km and 105g/km for the 100hp engine, and 47.9mpg and 114g/km for the 117 hp engine.
The new engines are on sale now, joining a 1.0-litre 71hp petrol and 1.5-litre 90hp diesel in the Micra range.
The new 100hp engine will also be available with the new gearbox - a CVT automatic, for which the respective (provisional) figures are 57.6mpg and between 111 and 115g/km. Cars fitted with this gearbox will go on sale in February.
Finally, the new equipment grade is N-Sport, which Nissan says features a sporty design along the lines of the Ford Fiesta ST-Line and Volkswagen Polo R-Line.
Exterior features of the Micra N-Sport include: a carbon-style finish on the alloy wheels and door mirror caps; a gloss black finish on the side mouldings and front and rear bumpers; rear privacy glass; and halogen front fog lamps.
The model's interior features: Alcantara seats with leather-style elements, a front armrest, white air vents, black headliner and sports floor mats. Onboard technology includes a rear-view camera with parking sensors and keyless go.
The N-Sport is available with both the newly announced engines.
