Ionity opens second UK 350kW EV charging site

Date: 19 July 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Electric vehicle (EV) charging company Ionity has opened its second UK site equipped with 350kW chargers.

The new facility is at Milton Keynes, and Ionity says the third such site will follow shortly at Gretna Green.

Ionity says its High Power Chargers are capable of charging compatible models in less than 20 minutes, and that the electricity used is 100% renewable.

Ionity is a joint venture between Daimler, Ford, BMW and Volkswagen Group.

Ionity COO Marcus Groll said: "Milton Keynes is a key location, both geographically and as an automotive and technology hub - it was an ideal site for our second UK station.

"Now that there are Ionity High Power Chargers, drivers travelling in or through Milton Keynes can rapidly recharge their vehicles with 100% renewable energy.

"Eventually, our network will bring 40 High Power Charging stations to the UK, providing much-needed infrastructure for the e-mobility revolution."
