New Mini Electric unveiled

A new, all-electric variant of the Mini hatch has been revealed.
The Mini Electric is based on the regular three-door model, with minor cosmetic changes, including a closed front grille.
It features a 184hp electric motor, paired with a 32.6kWh battery that offers a driving range of between 124 and 144 miles under WLTP testing.
The battery will be capable of reaching 80% charge in 35 minutes from a 50kW fast-charging station.
Three equipment grades will be available, though these have not been named. Standard equipment includes a 6.5in touchscreen with sat-nav and Apple Carplay connectivity, a 5.5in digital dashboard and dual-zone climate control.
The mid-range grade will add equipment including park distance control, a rear view camera, heated seats and a driver assistance pack.
Further equipment with the range-topping grade will include park assist, a Harmon Kardon sound system, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, Matrix LED headlights, wireless phone charging and a touchscreen upgrade to 8.8in.
Prices, including the government's Plug-In Car Grant, will start at £24,400 for the entry-level model, rising to £26,400 for the mid-spec grade, and £30,400 for the range-topper.
Orders are open now, with the first deliveries scheduled for March 2020.
