New Audi Q5 plug-in hybrid spec revealed

Date: 22 May 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

A new plug-in hybrid version of Audi's Q5 SUV is to open for orders next month.

Badged 55 TFSI e quattro, it will feature a 2.0-litre, 252hp petrol engine and a 143hp electric motor, with a combined maximum system output of 367hp.

A 14.1kWh battery will allow for a pure electric range of more than 26 miles, Audi claims.

The manufacturer also says it will be fully rechargeable from a 220V household socket in around six hours, allowing for overnight charging.

Under the WLTP emissions regime the 55 TFSI e quattro will achieve a combined fuel economy of 113mpg and CO2 emissions of 49g/km.

Standard equipment will include: LED headlights with high beam assist; 20in contrasting grey alloy wheels; electric adjustable sport seats with massage function; three-zone automatic climate control; and a Technology Pack that incorporates the Virtual Cockpit digital instrument display, sat-nav and plug-in hybrid-specific information.

Audi says the Q5 55 TFSI e quattro will be priced at around £55,000. The first deliveries are expected during the fourth quarter of 2019.
