Goodyear trials predictive tyre servicing for fleets

Date: 31 May 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Tyre company Goodyear is trialling a service that will allow fleets to predict and automatically schedule tyre servicing and replacement.

The firm says the cloud-based platform predicts and automatically schedules tyre servicing using vehicle data and proprietary algorithms.

The service, which aims to increase vehicle uptime, is currently being trialled with Californian electric car subscription company Borrow.

It has also previously been trialled with Tesla, and an ongoing pilot is taking place with shared electric vehicle firm Envoy.

Goodyear says the Borrow trial allows it to test the solution, while servicing a fleet that represents a new model of emerging mobility.

Borrow vehicles are currently being serviced by Goodyear vans, but there is potential to include its aligned dealer network and company-owned retail stores as the pilot progresses.

Goodyear chief technology officer Chris Helsel said: "Goodyear is focused on the future of mobility with a strong emphasis on fleets and electric vehicles.

"This relationship with Borrow continues our testing of digital service solutions for consumer fleets, allowing Goodyear to lead in this space."
