BP announces combined Fuel and Charge card

Date: 09 May 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

BP is introducing a new service that allows fleets to keep both conventionally fuelled and electric vehicles (EVs) on the go.

The BP Fuel and Charge card will allow drivers to access both the BP Plus cross-acceptance network, comprising more than 3,600 filling stations, and also the Polar EV charging network of more than 7,000 public charge points.

Drivers will be able to use an app to find the closest available site to refuel or charge their vehicle. Meanwhile, a dashboard will give fleet managers an overview of both fuel and charging expenses in one place, simplifying admin and allowing for cost comparisons between different fuel types within a fleet.

The announcement follows BP's acquisition of Polar network owner Chargemaster - now BP Chargemaster - last year.

BP has also announced it will begin rolling out ultra-fast charge points at its filling stations in the coming months, capable of delivering a 150kW charge with the potential to fully charge an EV battery in 10 minutes.

BP UK fuel cards manager Jo McDonnell said: "The shift to EV is happening and at BP we are committed to serving our fleet customers with safe and convenient fuelling options regardless of the engine type they choose.

"Our new BP Fuel and Charge offer gives fleets the flexibility and the solution if and when they chose to move to EVs.

"After lots of hard work and planning, we're very excited to be launching this offer later this summer."
