The start point for the best source of fleet information

New guide offers fleet telematics advice

Date: 04 November 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

A new guide to how fleet managers can get the most out of telematics systems has been published by road safety charity Brake's Global Fleet Champions campaign.

The guide, entitled 'Telematics - What next?', discusses how managers can use the systems to gather the most relevant information, then analyse the data captured and encourage drivers to follow recommendations for safer driving behaviour.

Contributors include David Lawrence from Verizon Connect, who explains how gamification techniques can help engage drivers, and Selim Cavanagh of insurer Ingenie, who explains the firm's data-driven approach to behavioural change.

The guide is free to download for members from the Global Fleet Champions website.

Brake senior fleet officer Sarah Plumb said: "Global Fleet Champions guidance for fleet managers outlines best practice for anyone who employs people who drive for work, to help them manage work-related road risk.

"Vehicle technology such as telematics can help fleet managers identify and address risky driving behaviour to prevent crashes. It can also help us understand why crashes occur so we can prevent them from happening again.

"Safe vehicles are vital for safe and healthy journeys and we urge all fleet managers to choose the safest vehicles they can afford, and to utilise technology such as telematics, to help keep drivers and all road users as safe as possible on our roads."
