BVRLA hails green credentials of rented and leased cars

New data on the cleanliness of cars in the rental and leasing sector has been published by the BVRLA.

The organisation has revealed its members' green credentials with the publication of its Fleet Sustainability Credentials, coinciding with an International Air Quality Summit organised by the Mayor of London, World Health Organisation and UK100.

The document reveals that 100% of the car rental fleet and 96% of the leased car fleet are compliant with the requirements of clean air zones, compared with 62% of the overall UK car parc.

Speaking at the summit, BVRLA chief executive Gerry Keaney said: "The fleet sector is already leading the delivery of the UK's zero-emission road transport ambitions and reducing air pollution in cities and towns.

"Our latest Fleet Sustainability Credentials show that our member fleet outperforms privately owned vehicles on carbon emissions and clean air zone compliance.

"Our sector recognises its influential role in this agenda and is determined to play its part by providing individuals and businesses with cleaner road transport options."
