Fiat has revealed full details of a new performance-focused variant of its 500X SUV.

The Sport gets several mechanical changes designed to improve handling, including tuned suspension settings, a 13mm reduction in ride height and recalibrated steering.

Exterior styling features include body-coloured side skirts and wheel arches, a diffuser-style rear bumper, dual chrome exhausts and full LED headlights and fog lights.

The 500X Sport comes with 18in alloy wheels as standard, while 19in alloys are optional.

Interior styling features include an aluminium gear knob, a sports steering wheel and red instrument panel detailing.

Two petrol engines are available - a 1.0-litre with 120hp and a six-speed manual gearbox, and a 1.3-litre with 150hp and a DCT auto.

Standard equipment includes traffic sign recognition, lane assist, a 7in infotainment screen with sat-nav, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors and cruise control.

Prices for the 500X Sport start from £22,500.

Fiat has also added a new Lounge equipment grade to the 500X range.

Features include body-coloured mirror caps and 16in alloy wheels, while inside there's a leather steering wheel.

Standard kit includes a 7in touchscreen with DAB, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, front and rear parking sensors and rain and twilight sensors.
