New Mazda CX-30 is petrol-only as orders open

Date: 05 September 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

The new Mazda CX-30 crossover is now available to order in the UK.

There is a choice of two petrol engines: the 2.0-litre, 122hp Skyactiv-G, and the 2.0-litre, 180hp Skyactiv-X.

Although a diesel CX-30 is being sold in other markets, Mazda says a lack of consumer demand in the UK, plus the supposedly diesel-like characteristics of the Skyactiv-X, means it will not be offered here.

Both petrol engines feature a 24V mild hybrid system, and are available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.

The Skyactiv-X is also available with optional four-wheel drive.

Official WLTP fuel economy and NEDC-Correlated CO2 emissions figures are: 45.6mpg and 116g/km for the Skyactiv-G manual; 42.8mpg and 126g/km for the Skyactiv-G auto; 47.9mpg and 105g/km for the two-wheel drive Skyactiv-X manual; 43.5mpg and 118g/km for the two-wheel drive Skyactiv-X auto; 43.5mpg and 111g/km for the four-wheel drive Skyactiv-X manual; and 40.4mpg and 128g/km for the four-wheel drive Skyactiv-X auto.

Five equipment grades are available - SE-L, SE-L Lux, Sport Lux, GT Sport and GT Sport Tech.

Standard equipment across the range includes a head-up display, radar cruise control and LED headlights.

Extra equipment with SE-L Lux spec includes front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, an electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and keyless entry.

Extra equipment with Sport Lux includes adaptive headlights, privacy glass, and on cars with the Skyactiv-X engine a sunroof, while further additions with GT Sport include leather seats, a heated steering wheel and a Bose sound system.

Range-topping GT Sport Tech spec gains features including a 360-degree camera system, rear cross traffic braking, front cross traffic alert, and rear autonomous emergency braking (front is standard across the range).

Range prices start at £22,895 for a manual Skyactiv-G SE-L, and rise as high as £33,495 for an auto Skyactiv-X GT Sport Tech with four-wheel drive.

The first cars are due to arrive at dealers in January.
