Volkswagen to bring car boot delivery service to the UK

Date: 27 September 2019   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen has announced that its We Deliver car boot delivery service will be introduced in the UK next year.

The service allows drivers to register their vehicle as a delivery location for a parcel or service, with the courier or delivery personnel being granted one-off access to the vehicle.

The service is currently being trialled in Germany, and VW is now seeking partners for its implementation in the UK.

To address security concerns, the car's location is only made available to the courier for a limited amount of time, delivery details are traceable to specific individual couriers, and only the opening/closing functions of the car are accessible to them.

The service will be available with vehicles that have either the We Connect Plus or the Car-Net Service & Security Plus package.

To use the service, the car must be registered on the Volkswagen We platform via the We Connect app.

Cars eligible are those produced after 2 January this year, or on Touaregs produced after 2 July 2018.
