New mild hybrid diesel engines for Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque

Date: 26 August 2020   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Land Rover has made new mild hybrid diesel engines available with its Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque models.

Two power outputs are available, 165hp and 200hp, and they come with energy-harvesting technology said to provide smoother stop-start operation and improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions - the latter starting from 163g/km in the Discovery Sport.

In addition, the Discovery Sport has gained a new 290hp petrol engine option, available with a new Black Edition equipment grade, while the Range Rover Evoque is available with a new range-topping Autobiography grade.

Both model ranges now come with Land Rover's Pivi or Pivi Pro infotainment system, and also new for both models are over-the-air software updates, and online media services, including Spotify, being integrated directly with the infotainment system.

There's Bluetooth connectivity for two phones at once, plus wireless charging with a signal boosting option.

Both models also get a new cabin air filtration system, and new driver assistance tech including a 3D surround camera and rear collision monitors, with the Discovery Sport also gaining a rear traffic monitor.
