Renault introduces hybrid Clio and Captur

The Renault Clio supermini and Captur small SUV will be available as hybrid models, called E-Tech, from June 2020.
Despite the two cars being technically related, they have distinct hybrid systems. The Clio E-Tech is a full (non-plug-in) hybrid, using a small 1.2kWh battery that allows the car to start and drive at up to 38mph in pure electric mode.
The Captur E-Tech is a plug-in hybrid and has a larger 9.8kWh battery on board, allowing it to travel for 30 miles on electric power alone. It can drive in EV mode at up to 85mph.
Both cars combine the electric power with a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. This gives the Clio E-Tech an official CO2 output of 100g/km and puts it into the 23% BIK tax band for 2020/2021. The Captur E-Tech emits just 34g/km of CO2 on the WLTP cycle, putting it into the 10% BIK band.
The cars come as standard with a digital dashboard - 7in large in the Clio and 10in in the Captur - and Renault's Easy Connect infotainment system. For the infotainment system, customers can choose between a 7.3in and a 9.3in system in the Clio, while the Captur is always fitted with the larger screen.
