Pod Point reaches Tesco charging scheme milestone

Date: 21 July 2020   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Pod Point has installed EV charging points at its 200th Tesco store, as part of a partnership with the supermarket giant and Volkswagen.

The scheme will eventually see 2,400 free-to-use charging points installed at 600 UK stores.

The latest installation has seen four 7kW charging bays provided at a store in Chester.

At least two charging points, which can be used by any make of EV, have been installed at each location.

Tesco CEO for the UK and Republic of Ireland Jason Tarry said: "The 200th store is a landmark moment as we get back up and running with this programme after the Covid-19 pandemic meant we had to delay our plans.

"Providing customers with charging points offers them a sustainable choice and giving them the opportunity to charge their car for free while they shop is a little help to make this easier."
