The start point for the best source of fleet information

Nottingham fleets trial EVs

Date: 19 March 2020   |   Author: Illya Verpraet

The Nottingham ULEV Experience project has been offering 30-day 'try before you buy' loans of electric vehicles (EVs) to local businesses and public sector organisations.

The project is funded by Nottingham City Council's Go Ultra Low City project. The loans have been delivered by EV leasing company DriveElectric, who books the cars and vans, arranges the handover and gives information about operating and charging the vehicles. Although most participants arrange their own insurance, DriveElectric can do this as well.

Over the last 18 months, 52 organisations enjoyed 72 EV loans, with 20 loans turning into long-term contracts.

Mike Potter, MD of DriveElectric, commented: "Most organisations need to experience electric vehicles before making a decision to purchase. Fully-funded month-long EV loans are not readily available through dealerships, manufacturers or any other source. Therefore the 'try before you buy' EV loans provided by the ULEV Experience have been extremely valuable in filling a gap in the market not offered elsewhere."
