Mazda prices MX-30 EV

Date: 04 March 2020   |   Author: Illya Verpraet

The MX-30, Mazda's first EV, will go on sale in the UK early next year from £30,495 for the First Edition. Cheaper versions might follow later.

The electric car will have a 35.5kWh battery and a 124-mile range, already putting it at a disadvantage against offerings such as the Renault Zoe, Peugeot e-208, Hyundai Kona EV and Kia Niro EV, although it's comparable to the Mini Electric and Honda e.

With the first deliveries expected in 2021, it remains to be seen whether it will benefit from any government EV grant, which currently takes £3,500 off the price of an EV, theoretically making the MX-30 cost £26,995.

The MX-30's price does include a wall box home charger, and the car is delivered with cables for both fast charging and charging on a 3-pin plug. Additionally, the DC socket allows for rapid charging up to 50Kw, which can charge the car to 80% in 40 minutes.

The First Edition can be pre-ordered now and is limited to 500 examples. It has a touch screen for the climate control and uses cork and a number of recycled materials in the interior. The seats are upholstered in light grey cloth and leatherette with orange stitching. Seats are 8-way electrically adjustable, and the driver gets a 7in gauge cluster.
