Skoda Octavia to be available with Golf GTE hybrid powertrain

Date: 03 March 2020   |   Author: Illya Verpraet

The VW group's 245hp plug-in hybrid powertrain is finding a lot of homes in the group's various brands - Skoda is the latest to use it, in its Octavia vRS iV.

After the VW Golf GTE, Skoda Superb iV, Cupra Leon eHybrid and Cupra Formentor eHybrid, the Skoda Octavia vRS iV is the latest car to receive the VW group's 1.4-litre petrol engine, 115hp electric motor and 13kWh battery combo.

Like all Octavias, it will be available as both an estate and a five-door liftback saloon and should be good for a 37-mile electric range.

Being the sporty model, it gets aggressive styling, black 18in alloy wheels (19s are optional), sports suspension and sports seats.

As previously announced, there will also be a regular Skoda Octavia plug-in hybrid. The Octavia iV has a version of the same powertrain, but with a weaker electric motor, giving a system output of 204hp. It has the same pure-electric range as the vRS iV. The normal Octavia iV will be available as either an SE or SE L equipment grade.
