Korean budget brand Ssangyong is updating its compact SUV, the Tivoli, with a choice of new turbocharged petrol engines, an upgraded diesel engine, and revised interior trim.
The facelifted Ssangyong Tivoli is still trying to appeal to the budget-conscious, with a starting price of £13,995. Ssangyong is also offering a seven-year, 150,000-mile warranty. This makes its natural competitors the Dacia Duster and MG ZS.
Where the Tivoli was previously running somewhat behind with a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine, the facelifted version gets either a 1.2-litre three-cylinder or 1.5-litre four-cylinder, both turbocharged for better drivability and efficiency.
The 1.2 has 128hp and comes with a 6-speed manual, while the 1.5 has 163hp. As before, there's also a 1.6-litre diesel with 136hp. The two bigger engines get the choice of either a manual or automatic gearbox.
The interior has had a mild redesign, with a more modern centre console and the option of digital gauges on the top equipment grade. The infotainment is now based around an 8in touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all but the cheapest 'EX' equipment grade.
