New entry-level engine for Golf

Since the Golf went on sale in February, VW has been gradually adding engines to the line-up. The latest addition is the entry-level 110hp 1.0-litre TSI.
The 1.0-litre is only available with a six-speed manual gearbox and with the entry-level Life equipment grade. Those who want the automatic will need to have some more patience, as VW will add a mild hybrid version with a DSG gearbox at a later date.
It starts from £23,300 on the road and emits 121-129 g/km, putting it in the 27% or 28% BIK band.
Although Life is the base equipment grade, the cheapest Golf is still decently equipped, with 16in alloy wheels, automatic wipers and LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, keyless start, a fully-digital gauge cluster and a 10in infotainment system with built-in navigation.
