New Toyota Mirai hydrogen car revealed

Toyota has unveiled a new, second-generation version of its Mirai hydrogen car.
Compared with the outgoing car, the new Mirai is said to have a driving range extended by 30% to around 400 miles, due to increased hydrogen fuel capacity, improved efficiency and better aerodynamics.
With the new model based on Toyota's GA-L platform, the fuel cell stack has been moved from beneath the cabin to under the bonnet, which Toyota says has allowed a more spacious interior.
This is also helped by a 140mm wheelbase increase compared with the outgoing car, while the new Mirai is also longer, lower, and has larger wheels, said to give the car a more dynamic stance, and also a lower centre of gravity for improved handling.
Although the first incarnation of the Mirai was an extremely niche product, Toyota says it is targeting a ten-fold increase in global sales with the new version.
UK sales details are yet to be announced, but Toyota says it plans to reduce the price of the Mirai by around 20% compared with the previous version, which cost more than £60,000.
