New Toyota C-HR GR Sport unveiled

Date: 09 November 2020   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Toyota is adding a new, sports-inspired equipment grade to its C-HR SUV range.

Although the C-HR GR Sport features the same 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre petrol hybrid powertrains as the regular range, it does feature chassis tweaks designed to provide sharper driving dynamics, with the front and rear springs having been stiffened by 10% and 15% respectively, and the shock absorbers having been tuned for increased damping force.

The steering system has also been tuned to be more responsive, and model-specific tyres are fitted.

Cosmetically, the GR Sport's exterior is distinguished from the regular range by details including a black finish for the headlight and fog light housings, central bumper section and Toyota logo background, along with a dark chrome grille, and a more prominent front spoiler.

The GR Sport is also fitted with 19in alloy wheels, while at the rear there are black reflector surrounds, a new under-bumper trim and GR Sport badging.

A bi-tone paint finish is also standard, with eight colours to choose from.

Inside, there's GR-inspired red and grey stitching, and GR logos on the scuff plates, the stop-start button, and the start-up animation in the driver's multi-information display.

Full specs are yet to be confirmed, but Toyota says standard equipment will include rear privacy glass, smart entry, LED headlights, heated front seats, auto-retracting door mirrors, sat-nav, and Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.

Available options will include a nine-speaker JBL Premium Sound audio system.

The C-HR GR Sport will go on sale early next year. Prices are yet to be announced.
