Seat Tarraco gains RDE2-compliant engines

Date: 02 October 2020   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Seat has added RDE2-compliant engines to its Tarraco SUV range.

The engines are a 150hp diesel, a 200hp diesel (which replaces a previous 190hp diesel in the range), and a 150hp petrol.

In addition, an RDE2-compliant version of the Tarraco's 190hp petrol engine will arrive early next year.

RDE2 compliance is particularly significant for the diesel engines, because it means that company car drivers avoid the 4% BIK surcharge otherwise applied with the fuel.

With the 150hp diesel, this means the model now falls into the 31% BIK tax band, with CO2 emissions of 143g/km when specced with the entry-level SE equipment grade.

However, the 200hp diesel, which comes with four-wheel drive, still sits in the top 37% bracket.

Seat says the RDE2 compliance has been achieved with a dual AdBlue injection system that significantly reduces NOx emissions compared with previous-generation engines.

The new engines are available to order now. Tarraco range prices start at £28,545.
