Second plug-in hybrid model joins Volkswagen Golf range

Date: 30 April 2021   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen has made a second plug-in hybrid powertrain available with its Golf range.

Previously, the only Golf PHEV available in the UK was the 245hp GTE hot hatch.

Now, a second variant, badged eHybrid, has been introduced, producing a combined 204hp from a 1.4-litre petrol engine and an electric motor.

The eHybrid can achieve a pure electric range of 44 miles on the official WLTP cycle, while official fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are 235.4mpg and 21g/km respectively.

The battery can be fully charged within five hours via a domestic 2.3kW connection, or within three hours and 40 minutes with a 3.6kW wall box.

The eHybrid is being offered with the mid-range Style equipment grade, priced at £32,995. Orders are open now.
