New Citroen C5 X crossover revealed

Citroën has unveiled the C5 X, a new D-segment crossover model set to become its range flagship.
The manufacturer claims the new model's design blends saloon, estate, and SUV elements, with a fastback rear end, a 545-litre boot, and increased ground clearance compared with a regular family car.
The C5 X also gets Citroën's new V-shaped light signature front and rear, as previously seen with the new C4.
Among the powertrain options will be a plug-in hybrid which pairs a petrol engine and electric motor for a combined output of 225hp, and can achieve a pure electric driving range of 31 miles on the WLTP cycle. Petrol versions will also be available, but details of these are yet to be announced.
The C5 X comes with Citroën's Advanced Comfort suspension system, which on plug-in hybrid versions will come with a choice of three active modes allowing either a softer or stiffer set-up.
The interior features a 12in touchscreen infotainment system with a 'natural' voice recognition-based digital personal assistant, and there's also an extended head-up display projecting key driving information onto the windscreen.
Four USB sockets are also included, as is wireless smartphone charging.
Available driver assistance systems include the semi-autonomous Highway Driver Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist. Other assistance technology includes long-range blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.
The C5 X will go on sale in the UK in late 2021. Prices are yet to be confirmed.
