Date: 05 August 2021   |   Author: Sean Keywood

Volkswagen has added a plug-in hybrid powertrain option to its Tiguan SUV range.

The new Tiguan eHybrid features a 1.4-litre petrol engine and an electric motor, with a combined maximum output of 245hp.

A 10.4kWh battery means an electric-only range of up to 30 miles on the official WLTP combined cycle, while a full battery recharge is possible in three hours and 40 minutes using a 3.6kW wall box or public charger.

Official fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are 176.6mpg and 38g/km respectively.

The eHybrid is available with Life, Elegance, and R-Line equipment grades. Standard equipment with Life spec includes three-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control with front assist, front and rear parking sensors, and 8in touchscreen sat-nav.

The Elegance grade adds equipment such as a heated steering wheel, 10.25in Digital Cockpit Pro display, electric boot opening and closing, a reversing camera, and predictive cruise control.

Sporty R-Line spec adds further features such as 20in alloy wheels, a roof spoiler, and wheel arch extensions.

IQ Light LED matrix headlights are standard with the Life and Elegance grades and optional with R-Line.

Prices start at £35,515 for the Tiguan eHybrid Life, and rise to £37,780 for Elegance and £38,120 for R-Line.
