New petrol engines for Volkswagen Tiguan

Volkswagen has added new, more powerful petrol engine options to its Tiguan SUV range.
Two 2.0-litre engine options have been added, producing 190hp and 245hp.
Due to their high outputs, and the fact that both come as standard with four-wheel drive, both sit inside the top 37% BIK company car tax band, with WLTP CO2 emissions of 189-194g/km for the 190hp engine, and 200g/km for the 245hp engine.
Official fuel economy figures are 33.2-34.1mpg for the 190hp engine, and 32.1mpg for the 245hp engine.
Both come with seven-speed DSG automatic transmission as standard.
The 190hp engine is available with a choice of Elegance and R-Line equipment grades, while the 245hp engine is available with R-Line spec only.
Prices are £36,140 for a 190hp R-Line, £36,275 for a 190hp Elegance, and £39,560 for a 245hp R-Line.
Although the latter is the most powerful Tiguan available currently, VW says a more powerful performance model, badged R, will join the range at a later date.
