New Ford S-Max Hybrid and Galaxy Hybrid go on sale

Ford has added a new S-Max Hybrid and Galaxy Hybrid to its lineup.
The S-Max Hybrid is priced from £36,535, while the Galaxy Hybrid starts at the slightly higher price of £38,695.
The new variants combine Ford's 2.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with a 1.1 kWh battery and an electric motor, producing 190hp in total.
The hybrid reduces CO2 emissions by more than 10 per cent when compared with the equivalent EcoBlue diesel engine.
The S-Max Hybrid can achieve 43.5-44.1mpg which is almost identical to the 2.0-litre Ecoblue diesel, however it emits less CO2, at 147-148g/km.
Ford's hybrid variant of the Galaxy achieves 43.5mpg and emits 148g/km.
The seven-seat MPVs can be driven using their electric motors for short distances, and battery charge is replenished when either coasting or braking.
Ford's infotainment system includes Brake Coach, which encourages gradual braking to increase energy recuperation, and an EV Coach which helps drivers understand when they are using electric or hybrid power.
Ford has rerouted the exhaust system underneath the car to accommodate the battery's low position.
Despite this the S-Max Hybrid offers 285 litres of load space, or 2200 litres with the seats folded (the Galaxy has 300 litres and 2,339 litres respectively), and towing capacity is up to 1,560kg.
The new S-Max Hybrid falls into the 32% BIK tax band, five lower than the 190hp diesel automatic (from 180g/km).
