Nearly two-thirds of drivers considering EVs, Tusker reports

Salary sacrifice provider Tusker says 63% of its drivers would consider an EV for their next vehicle, according to a survey.
The increased interest has also been seen in Tusker's new car orders, with 50% now fully electric and 20% hybrid, contributing to a rise in the share of EVs on its fleet of nearly 20,000 vehicles from 3% in 2019 to 20% in 2020.
The main reasons for choosing an EV were given as environmental benefits, being able to charge at home, and reduced tax, while range concerns were the most cited reason against.
Tusker says its research also found increased knowledge about EVs, with 36% of those surveyed confident of naming three public charging locations in their local area, and 75% being aware of EVs available within their budget.
Tusker CEO Paul Gilshan said: "This year's research has brought drivers' attitudes towards EVs to life. The signs are that knowledge is improving thanks to constant education from Tusker and the wider industry on how electric cars can fit into a driver's daily life right down to the location of local charging stations.
"Our salary sacrifice car benefits scheme aims to put the majority of EVs into the reach of everyday drivers at the same time as helping reduce tax for user choosers and improve safety for grey fleet drivers. Its ability to reduce car provision costs for employers is another area which shouldn't be overlooked."
